It’s amazing to think that May has already arrived and another semester is nearly behind us. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your graduate journey — it’s a privilege we don’t take lightly. This past year has been full of energy and connection as we continued to champion our graduate students and hosted a wide range of memorable events. From the festive Wine and Cheese Social during Christmas at the Hall, semester-start Welcome Socials, to hands‑on Career Center workshops, the launch of our Virtual Lunch and Learn sessions, Graduate Student Day at basketball games, and our recent celebration of National Graduate Student Appreciation Week, it has truly been a rewarding year.
We’re excited to carry this momentum forward. You can look ahead to even more programming, resources, and opportunities designed to support you throughout the coming year.
As we close out the semester, we also want to offer our warmest congratulations to those graduating this May. Your commitment and perseverance have been inspiring, and we can’t wait to see where your path leads next. As you join our alumni community, we hope to continue celebrating your achievements and staying connected to your stories.
Wishing you a strong finish to the Spring semester and all the best in the months ahead!
Sincerely,
Christopher Cuccia, Ed.D.
Associate Provost for Academic and Graduate Affairs

As we get closer to the end of the semester, now is an ideal time to reflect on your next steps for after graduation. Building a strong foundation based on strong career management skills will help you start with confidence and build the career that aligns with your goals.
-
Develop both short term (1-5 year) and long term (5+ year) goals. Identify the skills that you would like to build, experiences you hope to gain, and key milestones that you can use as guideposts.
- Explore post-graduation certificate, training, and degree opportunities. Identify ones that are valued and recognized in your field. Consider when in your career you may want to pursue these opportunities.
-
Invest in mentor relationships. Build on existing mentor relationships and regularly seek out new mentors. Mentors will provide guidance throughout your career as well as help you celebrate success and navigate challenges.
Remember, alumni are always welcome at The Career Center. We are here to support you with step every stage of your career journey. You can schedule an appointment through Compass or by emailing tccpirates@shu.edu.
