Get Ready for ClassesYour first semester at NYU will introduce you to important works of the ancient world, through the Arts & Cultures and Global Works & Society classes. You will also hone your essay writing skills in Writing as Exploration, and select an elective in a field of interest or meet a requirement for your intended major. Melina Cary
Welcome to Liberal Studies! As an alumna of Liberal Studies myself, I am passionate about our curriculum and the Liberal Studies experience. After spending my freshman year studying abroad in Shanghai in 2011-2012, I completed a major in East Asian Studies and a minor in French Studies at NYU. My study abroad experience through LS inspired me to return to China after graduation, where I worked for two years as a high school English teacher in Hunan Province, and two years as a Global Writing & Speaking Fellow at NYU Shanghai. Following my time working in China, I came back to the U.S. and completed a Master in Teaching degree at Clark University. After teaching for a couple years, I decided to return to NYU as an Academic Advisor to share my passion for the power of Liberal Studies! In my spare time I love to sing, write, and play with my mischievous cat, Carmela. I look forward to meeting you and learning about your interests!
