June 2 Job Fair
The Stony Brook University Career Center is hosting the New Stony Brook Graduates and Experienced Alumni Job Fair happening virtually through Handshake Thursday, June 2, 1 - 4 p.m. More than 100 employers are looking to hire Stony Brook students and alumni for full time entry-level and experienced professional positions. Recent graduates and alumni can register for the virtual fair and sign up for 1:1 and group sessions to meet with employers of their choice at the link above. Participating employers include: Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School, Canon USA, Harbor View Medical Services, H2M architects + engineers, LBi Software, Northwell Health, Northwestern Mutual, Nestle Health Science, PW Grosser Consulting, Sartorius, and YAI [Young Adult Institute] – Seeing Beyond Disability.
 
Incubator Showcase Returns LIVE June 8 (with Calverton Food Business Incubator Open House June 1)
Economic Development is excited to announce that the annual Incubator Showcase resumes this year after a three-year hiatus. It will be held Wednesday, June 8, at CEWIT [Center of Excellence Wireless and Information Technology] in the R&D Park, with more than 60 companies showcasing the Stony Brook University incubation system representing biotechnology, energy, IT and food business incubators. What’s Happening at Staller and Zuccaire?
Stony Brook Film Festival, July 21-30, showcases the best in independent film premieres over 10 stimulating days. See it all in Staller Center’s main stage theatre.

Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery – July 21-October 29. Open every evening of the Stony Brook Film Festival, with a special exhibit called Connecting the Drops: The Power of Water. This group  exhibition of internationally recognized artists focuses on environmental justice and waterways, featuring a sculptural work with live native Long Island plants, a room-sized interactive video game, drawings created with charcoal and melting ice, beadwork based on indigenous practice, and videos of water stories.
 
In the News: College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Professors Crystal Fleming and Robert Chase
Crystal Fleming, professor in the Department of Sociology, was interviewed regarding the recent tragic shooting in Buffalo, as well as this past Sunday’s NYC subway shooting and the two-year anniversary of George Floyd’s murder:

Robert Chase, associate professor in the Department of History, was recently interviewed in-depth on convict leasing for the podcast "Teaching Hard History," a production of the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) that broaches difficult subjects of race for high school and college teachers.  
 
Congratulations Graduates!
Experience or re-visit, in print and on video, our wonderful commencement activities last Friday, May 20. And get a feel for the energy and excitement among graduates who took part in commencement celebrations held for all five of our health sciences schools and our program in public health. Congratulations to our record breaking number of graduates making up the Class of 2022!
