Have you heard of the Belonging Index? Belonging is about staff feeling accepted and included. It’s a sense of oneself in relation to a community or institution, and the ability to bring your full authentic self to work, where you feel valued, recognized, seen and heard. At UCSF, we measure this with the Belonging Index, a set of 10 questions in the Gallup Staff Engagement survey, which begins April 27.
In a recent assessment of FAS staff engagement action plans, FAS departments logged more than 126 activities, almost half (44%) geared toward the Belonging Index.
