CONSULATE ON WHEELS

Consulates on Wheels are established to serve the Mexican communities located in the metropolitan area of the cities where the Consulate is located and remain in the same place for five days.

The Consulates on Wheels primarily provide documentation services, especially High Security Consular Registration and Passports, as well as information related to birth registrations, certified copies, powers of attorney and wills. Mexicans in the United States are provided with information on topics of interest to them and consultations on labor protection and labor rights. Information is also distributed through brochures.

ASEZ and the Greenhouse Club are co-hosting an environmental seminar and workshop on the significance of urban gardening in our community. Attendees will have the chance to pot, decorate, and take home their own miniature reindeer moss.

Join us with guest speaker Dr. Ingrid Montes, a faculty member at the University of Puerto Rico and a researcher in chemical education. Join us to celebrate and engage in discussions about career paths, grants, and internship opportunities with leaders in STEM from the Hispanic and Latino community.

Curated by Atim Annette Oton of Calabar Gallery, the exhibition explores wide-ranging art making processes, distinctive cultural roots, issues of language, and identity in Latin American art. From installation, painting to photography, this two-gallery exhibition presents the multiplicity of artistic voices from 20 emerging and established artists from the Jersey City and New York Metropolitan area.

Artists in the exhibition are: Alexandra Alvarez, Ray Arcadio, Natali Bravo-Barbee, Vanezza Cruz, Giannina Gutierrez, Jacqueline Herranz-Brooks, Tenjin Ikeda, Sonia Lerebours, Kandy G. NJCU's Digital Ethnic Futures Consortium (DEFCon) is extending an invitation to full-time and part-time faculty, as well as graduate students, to apply for a hybrid training and mentorship program. This program aims to assist four faculty members and one graduate student in integrating spatial literacy, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or spatial analysis into their classroom lectures or research projects. The mentorship program is scheduled to run from November 1, 2023 to April 1, 2024.

Curator Atim Annette Oton of Calabar Gallery will moderate the second panel discussion in connection with the exhibition, 'Latin American Artists: Dreams and Possibilities,' currently on display at NJCU Galleries until November 15. The featured artist presenters include Natali Bravo-Barbee (Argentina/New York), Vanezza Cruz (Dominican Republic/New York), Ray Arcadio '90 (Dominican Republic/New Jersey; NJCU alum), and João (Juno) Zago (Brazil/Newark, N.J.).

Free and Open to the Public

The NJCU Symphony of Winds and Percussion, under the direction of Patrick J. Burns, will present 'The Beauty of Peace,' a concert series featuring classic and contemporary wind band music. The performances will take place in Ridgewood, N.J. and Kearny, N.J., and on campus at the Margaret Williams Theatre.

The program will showcase H. Owen Reed's groundbreaking experimental composition, 'Spiritual' (1947), inspired by his impressions of worship music in African-American churches. This piece is also noteworthy for its incorporation of bebop style into concert band music. Additionally, the program will include Yukiko Nishimura's lush and lyrical 'Star Ship' (2003), based on an ancient Japanese legend of two lovers who meet only once a year, and Alfred Reed's epic work, 'To Rejoice in the Beauty of Peace' (1983).
