Addressing School Safety
The TDSB is committed to schools that are caring, safe, welcoming, and respectful. Student and school safety is an urgent priority for staff, students, families, and community members and the TDSB will continue to invest resources in school safety. The Board is taking a number of different steps to improve school safety across the Board including the hiring of additional staff to better support students, staff and school communities, creating a Safe Schools Audit Team to work with schools on safety issues, and forming an Expert Table Reference Group related to school and community safety with representation from recognized service providers across the City (e.g. The Centre for Mental Health and Addiction, Toronto Public Health, City of Toronto) and include students, parents, Trustees, staff, and faith-based groups. Learn more about what the TDSB is doing to make schools safer.
Inclement Weather
Winter is coming! With our cold Canadian winter comes snow, ice, and severe weather. It is occasionally necessary to cancel student transportation, classes and/or programs. Occasionally, severe weather forces the closure of our schools and administrative offices. Visit the website to learn more about Snow/Cold Weather and the Procedure for Severe Weather.
Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (PIAC)
PIAC welcomes you to share the voice of your ward, to advise the Board, support school councils and parents/caregivers with events and resources. Please visit PIAC’s redesigned website at www.torontopiac.com. View PIAC vacancies and contact your Trustee to join!

Outdoor Education at the TDSB
At the TDSB, we are committed to outdoor education and offer students “beyond the classroom” learning experiences that cannot be created inside a classroom. Outdoor education brings learning to life and connects students to the built and natural world around them. All activities are curriculum-based and customized to meet the different learning needs of students. Learn more and view a video on the Outdoor Education webpage.
