GAMPAC ENDORSES DRS. MICHELLE AU & SCOTT BOHLKE FOR GEORGIA SENATE SEATS
ATLANTA – GAMPAC, which is the Medical Association of Georgia’s non-partisan political action committee, has endorsed Michelle Au, M.D., MPH, for the State Senate’s 48th District and W. Scott Bohlke, M.D., for the State Senate’s 4th District.
“Drs. Au and Bohlke are exemplary candidates for the election in June,” says MAG President Andrew Reisman, M.D. “They are proven leaders who possess unique skill sets and expertise that will be especially valuable given the challenges we face in Georgia – including dealing with the long-term effects of COVID-19 and the need to improve our overall health care system.”
GAMPAC Chair James L. Smith, M.D., adds that, “There is no doubt that having these leading physicians in the General Assembly will translate into better public policy and greater peace of mind for their constituents and every other Georgian.”
Dr. Smith is flagging Dr. Au’s public health expertise and Dr. Bohlke’s understanding of the needs of people who live in rural areas as especially valuable perspectives in 2020.
Dr. Au is an anesthesiologist with Emory-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta and a graduate of the MAG Foundation’s Georgia Physicians Leadership Academy. She is a Democrat.
Dr. Bohlke is a family physician in Brooklet and MAG’s current Council on Legislation chair – having served as MAG's president in 2012-2013. He is a Republican.
The 48th District includes Johns Creek, Duluth, and parts of Lawrenceville, Peachtree Corners, and Suwanee, while the 4th District includes Statesboro and the surrounding area.
