| Experiential Learning Fair Offers Insights on Fall Options
Students have the opportunity this week to learn about LLS' 20+ clinics, field placements and practica at the Experiential Learning Fair (also known as ELF) to be held virtually March 21-April 1. The clinics will host an Open House on March 29 to provide interested students an opportunity to meet clinical faculty and staff, check out the Loyola Social Justice Law Clinic space and nosh on free treats. In addition to learning more about the programs themselves, both of these events will offer details on program admissions processes (enrollment for many is by application only, due April 4). | | Public Interest Festival to Feature On-Campus Sessions
The Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) will host its inaugural Public Interest Palooza festival on Saturday, March 26 from 2-6 p.m. The afternoon will feature a range of public-interest lawyering skills workshops: Mastering Non-verbal Communication in the Courtroom; Vicarious Trauma & Trauma-Informed Lawyering; Advocating for Juvenile Clients Roundtable; Getting Jurors to Open up About Bias; Managing Microaggressions in the Workplace & Overcoming Ally Pitfalls; Achieving Housing Justice. Celebrating Career & Work of Professor Samuel H. Pillsbury
A Festschrift symposium celebrating the life and career of Sam Pillsbury will be held from 2-5 p.m. this Friday, March 25 in Robinson Courtroom. The event will honor Pillsbury, who retired after 35 years at LLS and a prolific array of scholarship. Speakers will include scholars, former colleagues and students speaking about Pillsbury's provocative scholarship and indelible contributions to social justice and the legal profession at LLS, in Los Angeles and beyond. Dean Michael Waterstone hosts the first Dean's Den of the 2022 spring semester with guest Professor Allan Ides '79, Christopher N. May Chair, professor of civil procedure and constitutional law, former U.S Supreme Court clerk -- and an LLS alumnus! Join us on March 28, 2022, at 12 pm on the Advocacy Center Patio. | RISE Clinic to Host Criminal Justice Reform Symposium
On April 20, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. the Rights in Systems Enforced (RISE) Clinic will hosting a symposium in honor of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW), a week led by the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments in the victims’ rights movement as well as an opportunity to reflect on the importance of helping crime survivors find justice. Join the LA public Library as they host Loyola Law professors, Yxta Maya Murray and Kathleen Kim. Professor Murray will read from her play Advice & Consent accompanied by Professor Kim on violin. The two discuss the inspiration for their play and musical score on the 2018 Christine Blasey Ford hearings for the Supreme Court regarding Brett Kavanaugh.
