It provides information about water-related conferences, collaborative courses and field experiences, undergraduate research positions and internships, and other opportunities for students, faculty, and staff at the Universities of Wisconsin. Please share information on your campus.

| Lab Manager Position at UW Oshkosh |
UW Oshkosh is hiring a Laboratory Manager for its Environmental Research and Innovation Center, a state-of-the-art research and testing lab that offers a full range of water, renewable energy, and compost testing capabilities.
This is an entry level position for someone with a year or two of experience, which can include course work. The Lab Manager will oversee students working at the ERIC and provide clients with project reports and manage client research and development projects.

Special Topics in Freshwater Science Laboratory and Field Techniques |
May 28 – June 14
Gain practical knowledge of field measurements of water-related processes such as water quality, soil properties, greenhouse gas emissions, and laboratory practices. Taught by faculty from UW-River Falls and UW-Madison. Lodging and accommodations provided. 2 credits.

Field Sampling and Analysis, Door County and Land O' Lakes |
June 10 – June 21
Learn practical and hands-on environmental sampling, experiments and analysis. The course takes place on the Lowenwood campus in Land O’ Lakes and at the UW Oshkosh laboratory at Crossroads at Big Creek in Door County. 3 credits.

Fish Culture Techniques and Practices |
June 24 – July 20
Learn introductory fish culture techniques with a focus on model fish (zebrafish) and aquaculture fish for food or conservation (Lake sturgeon, yellow perch, and walleye). Takes place at UW-Milwaukee’s School of Freshwater Sciences. 3 credits.

Elements of Water, FRSHWTR 101 |
Summer: July 1 – Aug. 24 or Fall Semester: Sept. 3 – Dec. 12
This course addresses the importance of water in biological, ecological, physical, climate and economic systems, and the consequences of distributing the natural water cycle. Meets the Natural Science General Education Requirement. Open to high school students enrolled in the Early College Credit Program. Takes place at UW-Milwaukee’s School of Freshwater Sciences. 3 credits.

Introduction to Freshwater, BIO/EGR 119Q3

This introductory class is rooted in the signature question: How do people understand and create a more sustainable world? Students will achieve learning outcomes from presentations, readings, class discussions, and lecture, laboratory and field exercises. Takes place at UW Oshkosh. 3 credits.

Microbial Ecology, BIOL 312 |
Sept. 5 – Dec. 19
Students will explore how the environment shapes microbial communities and how microbes affect the environment while gaining hands on experience on topics related to metagenomics and microbial ecology techniques. Takes place at UW-River Falls. 3 credits.
