TIPQC Recruiting Medical Directors Elect.

Notes from the Medical Director...
From TIPQC’s Maternal arm there is a lot of “behind the scenes” work going on right now as we continued to determine the project we roll out in March.  Regarding LARC....I am incredibly grateful to Tenncare, The 3 MCO’s, and THA for all the work that was done to move forward the policy change that will make it possible to get paid for contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices during the delivery admission starting 11/2/2017. Although the policy change was challenging making this option available to the women of Tennessee, the implementation piece as been no cake walk either. At UTMCK we have been working on the process for a couple of months anticipating the policy change and I am hopeful we will be ready, but there are still numerous people to train and some logistics to work out. If you are interested in having this option available at your institution I encourage you to visit the ACOG LARC website and utilize the Immediate Postpartum resources. The project committee is meeting soon…so keep an eye out for an update.  Nikki Zite, MD
