Quaker Shenanigans: White Supremacy Culture in Business Meeting Workshop, March 7 at 10:00am |
How can we know when we are caught up in the ways of our dominant culture and when we are being true to the Spirit in our Friends processes? In this workshop sponsored by BYM Reparations Action Working Group, we will disentangle Quaker business practices grounded in foundational spiritual principles from those that reflect White, middle-class, college-educated cultural norms.
Michael Levi and Jade Eaton, both members of Adelphi Friends Meeting, will facilitate this workshop, which is based on a much longer workshop that they presented last through FGC. Jade and Michael have both served as clerk of Adelphi, of the Board of Trustees of Friends Community School, and a variety of committees. They find Business Meeting vital to the health of monthly meetings.

World Council of Churches Shares Anti-Racism Resources |
Confronting racism and fighting for racial justice are and should be our ecumenical contribution toward the renewal of the church. Although churches today understand racism to be a sin and its theological justification a heresy, this has not always been the case. The ecumenical family therefore needs to continue addressing our history and our reality self-critically. During Black History Month, the World Council of Churches wishes to share these resources with congregations around the world.

QVM is made up of passionate Friends seeking to help Quakers have a more effective voice in statewide policy decisions. Our hope is to create an organization that can help Quakers in Maryland have an effective voice in statewide policy decisions.
