Urban Thrift to Close 
On Saturday, April 6, Urban Thrift will be closing its doors for the last time. Known as "Kensington's best-kept secret", the store has a well-earned reputation as a good source to get a great deal, a reliable place to donate treasures, and a fixture in the community that has made a lasting impact. Thank you to all those who have supported Urban Thrift. You have been vital and active in the mission to connect people of all ages and abilities with their communities to build inclusive and fulfilling lives.

After All Summer Program

Summer programming at After All is Monday, June 17 through Friday, August 23 from 8 am–6 pm. This program for pre-teens and adolescents includes:
  • Outdoor Recreation
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Outings to area attractions like the National Aquarium and Trolley Museum
  • Activities like computer development skills, and social media safety 
    and more!

Dating Workshops

Join STAND Together

This peer-led self-advocacy group meets virtually on the second Wednesday of each month, from 45 pm. Various topics of interest to the group are covered such as learning to speak up for yourself, decision-making, expressing your ideas, and building a network of friends.

Shine Brighter Together

Join us on Saturday, April 6 from 11 am2 pm at Wheaton Regional Park. In recognition of Autism Acceptance Month, Montgomery Parks has teamed up with organizations from around the county, including The Arc Montgomery County, to “shine brighter together” at this fun family-friendly event. Participate in hands-on, sensory-friendly activities while learning more about autism and the variety of resources available.

Transitioning Youth Resource Fair 

Make plans to attend this annual event at Montgomery College, Rockville Campus. On Sunday, April 7 from 1–4 pm, over 66 vendors including state agencies, non-profits, and service providers will provide information to transitioning youth and their families. They will be on hand to share their knowledge of job coaching, benefits, and other resources to help teens and young adults with disabilities take the next step toward independence.

Workshops on Dating, Relationships, and More

The Arc Montgomery County will be the site for a series of workshops sponsored by The Down Syndrome Network of Montgomery County. Led by Terri Couwenhoven, an author and sexuality expert for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the 5-part series covers dating basics, puberty, and relationship boundaries. Workshops begin Thursday, April 4 and conclude Saturday, April 6. There is a fee for each session.

Montgomery Parks Spring Adaptive Programs

Whether you want to pursue gardening, birdwatching or paddling, the adaptive program of events offered by Montgomery Parks will get you outdoors and enjoying the season. Spring activities begin on April 4.
