DRI to lead Nevada’s new Regional STEM Networks
The need for a workforce skilled in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) is growing, across Nevada and the nation.
DRI and the Nevada Governor's Office of Science, Innovation and Technology have just announced the creation of three new Regional STEM Networks across the state, which aim to increase student interest and achievement in STEM and grow partnerships outside of the traditional classroom to support students.

Warmer, drier, browner: Climate scientists connect 2018 drought and human-induced warming
The 2018 Four Corners drought — centered on the junction between Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico — was exceptional. An abnormally hot spring and summer indicated that climate change was clearly at work, but that was about as much as most people could say of the situation at the time.

Climate scientists from UC Santa Barbara and the Western Regional Climate Center at DRI have now distilled just how strong an effect human-induced warming had on that event. The team found that 60 to 80% of the region’s increased potential for evaporation stemmed from human-induced warming alone.
