In this newsletter, we're featuring Division of Graduate Studies funding. Most awards have an upcoming deadline of April 1.
Use this as a resource to discover funding you may be eligible for, as well as application requirements. Most awards require two letters of recommendation.
The Scholarship Application Portal will open in early February.

Division Funding Opportunities

This award supports doctoral students conducting dissertation research related to human development and performance.
Deadline: April 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST 
Award amount: 
$5,000 
This award supports master’s, doctoral, and law students who are pursuing degrees focused on environmental conservation, preservation, or research.
Deadline: April 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST 
Award amount: 
$5,000
This award supports UO master’s, doctoral, and law students selected to present their research at an academic conference to offset travel, registration, and lodging expenses.

Eric Englund Doctoral Fellowship for Double Ducks

This award supports doctoral students who received either their bachelor’s or master’s degree from UO, who have advanced to candidacy, and whose research focuses on American literature, American history, or closely related subjects. 
Deadline: April 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST 
Award amount:
 One term fellowship including full-time tuition waiver, monthly salary, mandatory fees subsidy, and subsidized health insurance premiums, including coverage for eligible dependents  

Eric Englund Master's and Law Graduate Scholarship for Double Ducks

This award supports master’s and law students who received either their bachelor’s or master’s degree from UO and whose research focuses on American literature, American history, or closely related subjects.
Deadline: April 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST 
Award amount:
 $5,000

Future Stewards Award

This award supports incoming and current master’s, doctoral, and law students who are citizens of a federally recognized tribe, including the Chinook Nation; priority is given to members of Oregon tribes. 
Priority Deadline: March 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST; applications accepted through July 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST 
Award amount:
 $20,000 in base tuition
This award supports master’s and doctoral students whose research focuses on the use of communication and writing skills to educate and effect change. 
Deadline: April 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST
Award amount:
 $10,000  
This award supports graduate students whose research focuses on preserving the culture, language, or artifacts of northwestern Native American communities.
Deadline: April 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST

Oregon Sylff Fellowships for International Research
Fellowship scholarships are awarded to full-time doctoral students for one academic year of graduate work that involves research and scholarly endeavors in programs and projects with an international dimension. Outstanding doctoral students will be considered through nomination by their respective graduate department/program.
Deadline: May 1, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. PST 
Award amount: 
$15,000
 
This award supports master’s, doctoral, and law students whose research demonstrates the potential for significant societal impact. Eligible projects span areas such as social justice, economic opportunity, well-being, cultural engagement, political participation, or scientific and technical solutions to pressing social issues.
Deadline: April 1, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PST
Award amount: 
$6,000
This award supports incoming and current master’s, doctoral, and law students whose research focuses on Southeast Asia. Priority is given to students from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, or Vietnam.

Steve Raymund Scholarship for Distinctive Field Work
This award supports master’s and doctoral students’ participation in unpaid Summer 2026 internships, externships, or apprenticeships that promote the application of disciplinary knowledge and skills to real-world situations.
Deadline: May 29, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PST 
Award amount: 
up to $5,000

Winter 2026 Degree Completion Deadlines

January 17 - Priority deadline to submit the application for advanced degree in GradWeb (after this date, an override from your department is required).

February 20* - Final deadline to submit the application for advanced degree in GradWeb (with an override from your department).

March 6 - Doctoral students only - Last day to hold final oral defense. Students defending after this date will be considered graduates of the next term. Final term registration information.

March 16 - Master’s students only - Last day to upload your completed and approved thesis and submit signed forms to the Division of Graduate Studies.

March 20 - Address changes for the diploma must be made directly in DuckWeb by the student.

March 21 - Official degree conferral date for winter 2026 (the date of your degree as it will appear on your transcript and diploma).

March 23 - Instructor deadline for submitting winter grades (noon).

March 30 through April 21 - Registrar’s office begins awarding winter degrees; one week following the grade deadline.

March 30 - Last day for department to submit the statement of completion of requirements in GradWeb.
