Finding Your Home at NYU

This session will delve into all that NYU Welcome has to offer. Beyond merely acquainting parents with available resources, this session(s) is designed to help you understand the ways we aim to foster belonging so that your student can flourish at NYU. We will discuss ways you can encourage your student to embrace a growth mindset during the initial weeks of classes as they face the inevitable bumps and challenges of their first year. We will also share specific strategies aimed at supporting your student’s journey to find their rightful place within the vibrant NYU community. Join us in empowering your student to thrive and succeed as they embark on their NYU adventure!

Thank you to all the Parents and Families who participated in our orientation webinars It’s the Start of Something New on June 16, Families of International Students on July 10, and Preparing for Your Arrival on July 16. We had amazing turnouts and enjoyed connecting with everyone to discuss the evolution of your role as a parent of a college student, share how you fit into the lives of your student's during their NYU journey, and provide strategies to best support your student's success from afar.

Important Deadline: Now

Submit Mandatory Health Forms

Don't miss this deadline to submit proof of immunizations, the Student Health History form, and the Wellbeing Questionnaire. If your student is under 18 years of age, you must also submit the Treatment of a Minor form so that you can access services at the Student Health Center. Failing to meet these requirements can result in disenrollment from classes. Visit the information for parents webpage for more information.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) with Duo and Student Cybersecurity

In one of the first emails your student received from NYU, they were asked to set up MFA with Duo to keep their NYU account safe. Please check with them to see if they’ve set it up on the phone so that they are planning to use it on campus. We also ask that you speak with them about cybersecurity best practices, such as not sharing passwords, keeping their computers up to date, and being cautious online.

NYU Welcome 2025

NYU Welcome hosts an exciting variety of programs, events, and initiatives to support your student's transition to NYU at the beginning of both the fall and spring semesters. NYU Welcome 2025 will take place from August 23 to October 5.

Each week, there will be events and initiatives designed to seamlessly transition your student to NYU, from welcoming them to New York, to adjusting to academics, to making friends and getting involved on campus, there will be something for everyone. Encourage your student to stay up-to-date with all the exciting programs by following @nyuwelcome on Instagram and reading the NYU Welcome newsletters, which will be sent to their NYU email address weekly.

Are there any hotel discounts that NYU offers for move-in?

During NYU Welcome Weekend (August 23 and 24), we're excited to offer discounts at select NYU partner hotels. We have partnered with numerous nearby hotels to give you a special discount when in town for move-in in Greenwich Village or Brooklyn.

Where do I park during move-in?

NYU and NYC does NOT provide parking during move-in. You can NOT park in front of your student's residence hall. You will stop, unload, and go after your car is unloaded. You can find parking in local parking garages or street parking. NYU has a partnership with SpotHero where you can receive a 15% parking discount up to $20 for use on your student's assigned move-in date. Use code NYU2029 to reserve your spot!
