 The Ekwanok Country Club in Manchester has been chosen by the United States Golf Association (USGA) as the host site for the 2030 U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championships. Ekwanok will host its second USGA championship and first since the 1914 U.S. Amateur won by Francis Ouimet. “It is an honor to host another USGA Championship at Ekwanok,” said Reggie Parker, Ekwanok member and a quarterfinalist in two U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championships. Founded in 1899, Ekwanok Country Club sits on the eastern side of the Green Mountains. Designed by Walter Travis and John Duncan Dunn, the course is renowned for its strategic layout, classic design, and scenic setting. Green Mountain Academy for Lifelong Learning welcomes author and historian, Candice Shy Hooper, to talk about her book,  Lincoln’s Generals’ Wives: Four Women Who Influenced the Civil War - for Better and for Worse. Most accounts of the American Civil War have largely neglected the extraordinary and influential lives of Jessie Frémont, Nelly McClellan, Ellen Sherman, and Julia Grant, the wives of Abraham Lincoln's top generals. They were their husbands' closest confidantes and had a profound impact on the generals’ ambitions and actions. Candice triangulates Lincoln, his top generals, and their wives to show how the wives’ views of Lincoln impacted their husbands, and ultimately, the course of the Civil War. They were also hidden for part of the war. After surviving the war, they went to what was then West Berlin, Germany. Several years later, Faye was born in a displaced persons camp. Internationally acclaimed concert and recording artist Maxine Linehan returns to headline the 5th Annual Red Fox Community School Benefit Concert at the beautiful Southern Vermont Arts Center’s Arkell Pavilion. The Vermont Jazz Center is honored to welcome trumpeter Sean Jones to their Cotton Mill Hill venue with his touring quartet including Seth Finch (piano), Aiden Taylor (acoustic bass), and Koleby Royston (drums). Sean is considered by NPR to be “one of the predominant voices of his generation.” His resume resonates with awards and accolades from the jazz media including Trumpeter of the Year (Jazz Journalists Association), Best New Artist, (JazzTimes), Rising Star Winner (four times in DownBeat Magazine). He has garnered three Grammys for his sideman work with Dianne Reeves, Nancy Wilson, and Gerald Wilson. He was chosen by Wynton Marsalis to be the lead trumpeter of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra from 2004-2010. Jones has been the head of the Jazz Studies program at Peabody Conservatory since 2018. Shakespeare in the Woods (SitW) is proud to announce its 6th Repertory Season of fierce, cutting-edge outdoor theatre. Hailed by audiences as “The best Shakespeare you’ll ever see” the burgeoning, award-winning company will present two new provocative adaptations of King Lear and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Performances will occur on the idyllic Taconic Lawn at venue partner The Equinox Golf Resort & Spa. The 2026 Season will be one of “Chaos and Folly”, exploring a variety of themes including love, control, jealousy, deception, nature, and community. Set in sunny Boca Raton, FL, BOCA is a lively series of short, intertwining comedies about a group of retirees living in a fictional retirement community called Boca Oasis.
