Vice President for Institutional Equity & Diversity Lorna Hernandez Jarvis gave the keynote address at the 2023 Walk for Reconciliation Against Racism event on Oct. 28. The event marked the 138th anniversary of the expulsion of Tacoma’s Chinese population in 1885. It included a walk from Union Station to Chinese Reconciliation Park in support of inclusion and diversity while combating acts of racism against marginalized groups.

Take Flight

Puget Sound alumnus Ray Conner MBA’86, former vice chairman of the Boeing Company and president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, received the Pathfinder Award from the Museum of Flight on Oct. 28. The Pathfinder Awards honor individuals with ties to the Pacific Northwest who have made significant contributions to the development of the aerospace industry.

Smash the Glass Ceiling

On Oct. 21, Logger Football linebacker Lily Godwin ’26 became the first female player to complete an unassisted tackle in an NCAA football game. Godwin achieved the history-making tackle during the Loggers’ game against Linfield University.

Stages of Life

The Department of Theatre Arts' fall mainstage play, Our Town, opened this weekend. Following the lead of playwright Thorton Wilder, the production does away with elaborate sets, props, and costumes to allow the audience to focus on the essence of the story.
