Primary election day is Tuesday, March 5, but you can vote early if that is more convenient. The early voting period begins on Thursday, Feb. 15 and runs through Saturday, March 2. Orange County has six early voting sites as listed on the graphic above. Polls will be open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 17, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 25, from noon to 4 p.m.; and Saturday, March 2, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For Black History Month 2024, the BIPOC elected officials of Orange County have released their video presentation of the poetry reading of “Rosa Parks” by Nikki Giovanni. 

The Orange County Planning Department has received a proposal to rezone 10.01 acres located at 6915-UT Millhouse Road from RB (Rural Buffer) to ASE-CD (Agricultural Support Enterprises Conditional District) to allow for "Agricultural Service Uses".

One of the ways residents can have a positive impact on the future of Orange County is to serve on a volunteer board or commission.

The Orange County Board of Commissioners is currently recruiting applicants for the Orange Water and Sewer Authority Board of Directors.

The Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors. The Chapel Hill Town Council appoints five town residents, the Carrboro Town Council appoints two town residents, and the Orange County Board of Commissioners appoints two Orange County residents. There is one upcoming vacancy for an Orange County resident.

On March 7, 2024, local arts agencies from Wake, Durham, Chatham, and Orange counties will once again partner with WRAL to present the much-anticipated Big Night In for the Arts.

This regional fundraising initiative celebrates the arts in our region and boasts a superstar line-up, including Grammy-nominated folk musician Tift Merritt, Grammy-nominated hip-hop musician Pierce Freelon, award winning Bluegrass musician Tray Wellington, artist and designer Gabriel Eng-Goetz, emerging filmmaker Jordan Wiley, and the dynamic Latin American dance group Takiri Folclor Latino.

Orange County Emergency Services is hosting a Public Safety Hiring Event on Thursday, March 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Durham Technical Community College at 525 College Park Rd., Hillsborough.
