Dear 4-H Families,
On August 6, communities across the country are celebrating National Night Out.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas and select areas celebrate on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more. You can learn more about this event at https://natw.org
It is exciting to see 4-H clubs throughout the county getting involved in this event. It is a great opportunity to promote Dodge County 4-H and clubs in your neighborhoods!
Another reminder, Kyra has a number of programs going on early this month, make sure to check out the newsletter and get signed up. Now is also the time to get registered and plan to visit UW Madison’s College of Ag and Life Science in August!
Have a great weekend,
Marie

Achievers (Megan Bruins) - The Achievers 4-H Club had our July meeting following a picnic lunch at the Waupun County Park. After our meeting we went swimming at the Waupun Aquatic Center. It was a hot day so it was a great way to cool off!

Our Dodge County Pig Pals Swine Spectacular Show is looking for Swine Project members, 4-H and FFA youth, that are involved with the Swine Project this year. This is a great activity that offers people with disabilities a chance to shine in the show ring with your help. This is also a great way to grow your leadership by partnering or working within the show in a variety of roles. Our show is scheduled for Sunday, August 18th beginning with all arriving at 9:15 am.
We will once again be expecting approximately 20 participants so that means we will need at least 20 swine exhibitor mentors to be partners along with 20 well trained pigs. We will also need barn safety people, lots of them to make it a safe show, alone with ring safety, and water safety youth. Parents and adults associated with swine project members can also volunteer. ALL volunteers will receive a Dodge County Pig Pals
T-shirt.
Please contact Mary Pat Boschert at 920-382-7943, call or text or email at billboschert@gmail.com to volunteer and answer any questions. Thanks everyone!

This Coming Wednesday-- Drop in and Bring a Friend! |
We are again holding a Silent Auction and are asking each club to donate a basket. This year's proceeds will be going to support the recycling project at the fair. Money raised will be used to buy additional supplies to expand the program. Please help the 4-H members and families who volunteer to make this a success! Theme baskets always do very well! Please bring them to the youth building at the fair on Tuesday, August 13th. Please have them ready for display and have a card with the value and a list of items that are in the basket.

We need your keen eyes and fresh perspectives to judge the Cloverbud projects at the county fair on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership skills and support younger 4-H members. Choose from three convenient time slots – sign up for one, two, or all three!
New to judging? No problem! We've got you covered with a training session on August 6 at 6:00pm in the Youth Building. If you've judged before, you're all set – no need for repeat training.
Questions? Reach out to Anne Rinzel at adrinzel@gmail.com. Let's make this a great fair!
