About this musical:
This energetic rock musical has at its center a religious leader who is a social and political rebel. Jesus Christ’s meteor-like rise in renown provides, as the title suggests, a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship. As Christ’s teachings are embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ's final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge, and explosive theatricality. Propelled by a stirring score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender, Jesus Christ Superstar illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart.

Announcing our 2016 season!
We just hauled our huge season ticket renewal mailing to the post office — but we can't wait to spill the beans! Our 34th season will feature the kind of wide-ranging variety that has become CT's hallmark. Next year you'll enjoy one of the longest-running Broadway musicals of all time (A Chorus Line), one of the most popular plays in the English language (Hamlet), and one of the funniest farces ever to grace our stage (Scapino!). You’ll also relish a year-end holiday classic for your whole family (A Christmas Story), a side-splitting chronicle of adolescent angst (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), and that Irving Berlin masterpiece whose famous songs you can probably hum already (Annie Get Your Gun). We're looking forward to another exciting year with you in our audience!
Current season ticket holders enjoy a priority renewal period throughout the month of October. (The renewal deadline for current subscribers is October 31.) Season tickets will go on public sale November 1.
