Twelve Santa Barbara City College faculty members became fully tenured professors at a ceremony held in the college’s Gourmet Dining Room on Monday, April 15. The annual gathering, hosted by Executive Vice President Dr. Pamela Ralston’s office, provided a forum for the newly tenured staff to speak on the subject of the hour: Why we love our jobs and working at SBCC.
The tenure awards were presented by Dr. Ralston and Academic Senate President Patricia Stark, who took turns introducing the honorees with glowing accolades from their colleagues and students. The acceptance speeches included phrases like “I hit the career jackpot;” “It’s very easy to be tall when you stand on the shoulders of giants;” and, “Working here is more fun than kittens; I’m over the moon to be here; and I’ve found my Hogwarts.”
The instructors were hired as tenure-track faculty in Fall, 2015. Their fully tenured positions begin in the Fall 2019 semester.
