1 Samuel 10:6, 9-11
The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.

As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day.   When he and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him; the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he joined in their prophesying.  When all those who had formerly known him saw him prophesying with the prophets, they asked each other, “What is this that has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”

Do people really change?  Psychology weighs in on this subject from time to time.  Many believe that meaningful change will not happen.  People remain as they are.

When Samuel found Saul and anointed him, he made a promise:  “You will be transformed . . .”  God changed Saul’s heart.  The Spirit of God anointed him powerfully and he prophesied with the prophets.  His friends wondered aloud, “What has happened to Saul?”

Has that happened to you?  Every week I work on my memory verse in 1 Corinthians 15:52 where another man named Saul who became Paul promises, “We will be changed.”  He knew of which he spoke!  Once Paul had persecuted Christ and his followers.  Then he became a follower of Jesus and proclaimed him across the known world.  In his letter to the Ephesians he told people who routinely lied to speak the truth.  Those who once stole would begin to work with their hands so they could give to others.

Here is hope:  God will change us.  In fact, he has already started.  The progress may seem incremental and slow.  Nevertheless, God’s Spirit is relentless.  He has a good goal in mind:  he wants us to be like Jesus.  He will stop at nothing.  So let’s not stop believing and changing.  Today is a good day to be changed.  Ready.  Go!
 Pray with me:
Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on us.  Melt us.  Mold us.  Fill us.  Use us.  Spirit of the living God, fall fresh on us.  Help us to progress in our sanctification.  Change us today we pray, until we can say, “We may not yet be who we will someday be, but thank God we are not who we used to be".  In Jesus’ name.”  Amen.
This year we focus our Every Day with Jesus readings on Jesus’ story.  With references to Tallowood's Read Through the Bible in 2018 daily reading plan, let's focus our undivided attention on Jesus and follow where he lead. He will not fail. Neither will we!

Joyfully,
