Congratulations on this day as you start a new life together.

“What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they are joined for life, to strengthen each other in all labor, to rest on each other in all sorrow, to minister to each other in all pain, to be one with each other in silent unspeakable memories at the moment of the last parting?”
– George Eliot
Meredith Barnes and Austin Carey were married on August 7, 2020, at Tenaya Lake in Yosemite National Park. Meredith is the daughter of Kim and Pastor Bill Barnes.

Milestones

Did you know that Family Promise assists over 100 families each year with 80% of them moving to permanent housing? Since January 2007, St. Luke’s has been a passionate host church, providing safe shelter, volunteers, meals, and hospitality for families in crisis.
Family Promise helps families avoid homelessness whenever possible but if they do become homeless, they provide safe shelter, access to housing, and stabilization services with a success coach to help them implement goals and connect to services in the community. For more information, contact Amy Winslow at awinslow@st.lukes.org.
Fresh Produce Restores Hope

On August 4, St Luke’s shared 1,512 cases of fresh produce and 1396 gallons of milk with 10 organizations to provide to families whose income has been impacted by COVID-19. Our East Winter Garden families and Arts Community continue to receive this gift of healthy food each week. Our next large scale food distribution is Monday, August 31 where we will get milk, cheese, chicken and produce to share through these 10 organizations once again.
Racial Equity and Social Justice Training
St Luke’s responded to the need for racial justice through training the leaders of our mission who are working out in the community. This 6-part Training series started with the Racial Wealth Gap simulation from Bread for the World which highlights 13 policies that connect racial equity, hunger, poverty, and wealth. These learning sessions continue on Monday nights and will strengthen our leader's ability to walk beside the individuals through empowerment and love. Please join us by registering at st.lukes.org/racialequity.
Madison King Selected for National Choir
Thousands audition to make their All-State Choirs. Those who make All-State can then audition for All-Nationals. Less than two dozen per voice-part make it. And, she is one of them!
Madison is the daughter of St. Lukers Chris and Melanie King. Congratulations Madison!
Featured St. Luke's Staff Member
St. Luke's Membership Secretary, Linda Shankle, received "Staff Shout Outs" and is this month's Featured Staff Member.
Linda hasn't missed a beat processing online Connection Cards and providing updated contact information reports that allow the staff to seamlessly communicate with the congregation. She is always on top of tracking down missing St. Lukers and following up with requests for partner information. Congratulations Linda!
