2019 Rutherford County Hiring Expo

The 2019 Rutherford County Hiring Expo is fast approaching. On August 29, over 100 employers will convene at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. to fill around 4,000 open job positions. Job openings span all industries and range from engineers to event staff. Job seekers should bring resumes, an official ID and wear business professional attire.

Sign Up To Become a TN Promise Mentor

449 mentors are still needed to support the 2020 class of TN Promise students within Rutherford County. In total, tnAchieves aims to recruit 9,000 mentors across the state to support 65,000+ students expected to apply for TN Promise this year.

Why mentor? tnAchieves hopes to improve students’ quality of life, increase the value of education in Tennessee and create lifelong learners. The program also seeks to build a strong workforce by increasing educational attainment opportunities across the state.

The program is also seeing statewide success! With the help of mentors and counselors, TN Promise students are outpacing their peers in both freshmen to sophomore year retention and graduation. TN Promise students retain from their freshman to sophomore year at 67% while their non-TN Promise peers retain at 58%. Help keep that momentum going by registering to become a mentor!

Join United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties and the IRS to discover a new way your employees can file their taxes for FREE! Last year, United Way’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program helped 17,000 local families file their taxes with a $2.2 million impact on the local community. Join UW Monday, August 19 at 10 a.m. to learn how your company can help employees keep more of the money they've earned in their pockets.
