“I know that our God is an on-time God.” Riding to church on our shuttle bus, I listened to the wisdom of the driver, who had also become my friend. What an encouraging thought! While I worry about the times, and whether things will happen on time, God is never worried. He is always right on time. How do we know?
Paul tells the Galatian Christians that God, the Father, waited until the exact precise right moment to send his Son into the world. “In the fullness of time, God sent his Son . . .” Jesus was born under the Jewish law so he might redeem those who were under the law. Salvation began with the coming of God’s Son.
When Christ ascended, he sent his Holy Spirit to us to effect our adoption into God’s family. The Holy Spirit enables us to call God, “Abba, Father.” Now we are no longer slaves, but children of God with the full benefits which belong to his heirs.
Since we are alive, there is still time to place our trust in Christ. Now is the time of salvation. Today is the day. If we are ever going to put our trust in Christ, there is no time like the present. We live today and every day on G.S.T.: God’s standard time. God is still an on-time God. We can trust him and his goodness, all the time.
