Reminder: Oregon Business Plan - Tourism Industry Cluster Session, Dec. 3

This webinar is hosted in partnership by Travel Oregon and the Oregon Business Council. The Tourism Cluster Session concludes a number of industry cluster events held this year as part of the 2020 Oregon Business Plan. These sessions underscore the importance of Oregon's traded-sector industries in the state's economy. Oregon's core traded industries can tell us much about opportunities and challenges for recovery and long-term job creation and competitiveness. What we learn will help inform a refreshed Oregon Business Plan to revive the economy and position it to emerge from multiple crises stronger and more equitable.

This session will be co-moderated by Travel Oregon CEO, Todd Davidson, and Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Association (ORLA) CEO, Jason Brandt.

Grant Program Will Open to Coastal Oregon Businesses Impacted by Pandemic

Today, Business Oregon announced they'll be seeking applications from businesses in Oregon's Coastal region to meet geographic distribution targets for the round of $20 million grant funding previously announced on Wednesday, Nov. 18.

The application will be posted on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m., and will be open until 8 p.m., though applications will be reviewed and processed on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be a PDF form to fill out and email to Business Oregon. The application form and additional details will be available on Business Oregon’s website in multiple languages. Only applications from businesses headquartered in Oregon with primary operations in eligible coastal counties will be considered.

Online Listing Technical Support Available for Businesses

Traveler sentiment research shows that right now, consumers want to know which destinations and businesses are open and following guidelines for health and safety, especially as they venture out to support local businesses this holiday season. Thankfully, a variety of zero-cost digital tools are available to help businesses surface this key information to consumers online.

Travel Oregon is offering resources through the Small Business Marketing Series to help businesses utilize tools from Google My Business, Yelp and Tripadvisor to inspire consumer confidence and drive sales during the holiday season and beyond. Businesses are encouraged to view the recording of the Oct. 22 webinar, Inspire Confidence with Online Listings During COVID-19, for a crash course in how to claim online listings. For additional support or personalized assistance with their online listings, businesses can book a free one-on-one 15-minute session with the experts at Miles Partnership, offered first come, first served.

Travel Oregon's Dr. Ladan Ghahramani, Named 2020 Emerging Leader Rising Star Award Recipient

This week, Travel Oregon's Research Analyst, Dr. Ladan Ghahramani received the Rising Star Award. The award is presented to an emerging leader employed in the travel and tourism industry. The Travel and Tourism Research Association recognizes this person for their commitment to increasing his/her expertise in the industry, demonstrated leadership abilities, and outstanding accomplishments that have added value to travel and tourism.
