MEET NORA MCVEY – Campus-Based Support Specialist from Women Helping Women

Hello! My name is Nora McVey and I'm Miami University's new Campus-Based Support Specialist from Women Helping Women. I am a free and confidential resource for students, faculty, and staff survivors of sexual assault and interpersonal violence. My services can be utilized by survivors of all genders and ages. I'm here for comfort, support, and to make sure survivors have all the information they need to pursue their path towards healing and justice. I started working on campus in November and appreciate the warm welcome I've received from the campus community. If you have further questions about my position or how to utilize my services, please call or text 513-431-1111 or email me at mailto:nmcvey@womenhelpingwomen.org.

Off-Campus Housing Service: Coming Soon!

The launch of the off-campus housing service has been delayed a few weeks due to some accessibility issues. The service is working hard to make all the necessary changes and we're hopeful that we'll go live within the next couple of weeks. You can direct interested students to offcampushousing.miamioh.edu to sign up for updates to be the first notified when the service is launched. Stay tuned!

Tech Tip of the Week

From Tim Kresse
TIP: Use a Password Manager.
WHY:  Having long, complex passwords is critical to online security these days. Ideally, each site you use will have a unique password that is a long and random set of characters. Something like this: Yh350fWctyouccf&76fomeudybIzmf#Er3CwqOpBhN

Intimidating? Not if you use a password manager.

HOW: A password manager can generate random passwords, save site login information, and automate access on PCs, Macs, Android, and iPhones. A few of the most popular are LastPass, Dashlane, KeePass, and more.
Lifehacker has an older story on the 5 best password managers and Wired writes that, "You Need a Password Manager." I have three of the products mentioned and currently use LastPass (the paid version) on PCs and my phone.
