The L@s GANAS Research Fellowship 
Applications for the L@s GANAS Research Fellowship are now live! This is a Two Year fellowship that provides students with valuable hands-on research experience and an opportunity to expand their network in the academic research community. Eligible students can also be offered up to $5,000 and funding to present at local and national conferences. 

If you are a Latinx student or are Pell Grant eligible, this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the scientific field and what it takes to follow a research based career path.

Mentoring Con Ganas
Applications for Mentors are open! Mentoring Con Ganas offers upper class students an opportunity to help incoming first year and transfer students. Mentors can offer insight into classes, professors, campus events and provide a support system for new incoming students. This is also a great leadership opportunity for Pre-Health students. 
If you are a STEM student with a minimum of 2.5 GPAidentify as Latinx, will be a UIC student for the entire 2019-2020 academic year, and the 2019-2010 academic year is at least your second year at UIC, then you can apply!

ONE BOOK STEM Seminars 
Join UIC faculty and scholars as they discuss The Immortal Life of Henriette Lacks written by Rebecca Skloot. They will cover topics such as medical ethics, race, and class.The first seminar of the series is this Thursday! The guest speaker is Dr. Karriem Watson (DHSc, MS, MPH), research scientist from the University of Illinois Cancer Center and Director of the Office of Community Engaged Research and Implementation Science (OCERIS) for the UI Cancer Center and the Mile Square Health Center.

Frederick Douglas Global Fellowship
Do you want to study abroad but are worried about the costs of attendance and travel? The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) and the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education’s Center for Minority Serving Institutions (CMSI) created the Frederick Douglas Global Fellowship to help underserved students study abroad. 
Students that are Pell Grant eligible can apply for this scholarship, and if chosen can get 100% of program fees and travel costs covered.

Occupational Health Internship Program 
This is an opportunity for students who are interested in learning and doing research about the field of occupational safety and health (OSH). This is also perfect for students interested in medicine as a career path. 
Participants of the internship will be conducting research projects that will help in learning about job-related health and safety problems among workers, often employed in an under-served or a high hazard job. There will also be conference during which participants will present their findings.
