Calm and Steady and Tax Reform

By Suzanne Boyle, Assistant Treasurer, Woods Fund Chicago
It’s the last few days of 2017 and we have tons of professional and personal tasks to complete.  Nonprofit organizations are in high fund-raising mode; donors are faced with the dilemma of selecting the organizations that will receive their allocated donations.  Then, on top of all the normal year-end strains, there is new tax legislation winding its way to the President’s desk.  How will it affect the nonprofit world, low and middle-income communities, and lastly, how will it affect me?  Talk about stress!

Driehaus Foundation: Capacity-Building Resource

For the last three years, the Driehaus Foundation has offered a capacity-building training opportunity to grantees in their MacArthur Funds for Arts and Culture program. In 2017, they partnered with LimeRed Studios to present “ArC” - a series of workshops in Arts Communications. They are pleased to share the ArC Guidebook, which grew out of workshops with a group of their grantees. They hope this Guidebook will be a helpful resource for arts nonprofits trying to reach new audiences, for their peers in philanthropy, and for others in the sector who are committed to helping small arts organizations build their capacity.
