Brandon Tanagers Club Updates

Submitted by Reporter Kylie Merkel

The Brandon Tanagers recently held their February monthly meeting at Brandon School on Monday, February 10th. We had a guest speaker and special visitor from the Fond du Lac County police department. We learned so much about K-9 Officer Iro and how he helps on the job. We really enjoyed this special guest!

In January we did not have a meeting, but had an optional family event of snow tubing.

Hands of Friendship Club Update

Charlize Averbeck- Reporter
Hands of Friendship recently held a pizza fundraiser. We met on Saturday, March 8 as a club to make the pizzas. Fun was had by all. We especially loved the meal shared after.
We were visited by a flat 4-Her from North Dakota named Stanley. So far he has been to
the Market Livestock meeting and our pizza making.
Memphis A and Haddie H gave demonstrations at their monthly meeting. Memphis talked to the group about her Dog Axel and Haddie talked about her love for cows. This is a great way for kids to learn to speak to groups.

Junior Master Gardner (JMG) Program Registration Open

Looking for a free interactive, educational program for your child this summer? If you answered yes, then you’ll want to check out UW-Madison Extension’s Junior Master Gardener (JMG) Program. It is a summer-long gardening/cooking program for youth, ages 8-12 years, that teaches them to “dig in the dirt”, care for plants, cook in the kitchen and eat healthy fruits and vegetables. Beyond gardening and cooking, your child will take field trips in the community, learn about insects and “dirt” from the experts, play fun games, and create lifelong friends (just to name a few.)
Sessions are held twice a month from 4-5:30 pm during the school season (April-May), and then weekly from 1-2:30 pm during the summer season. The JMG season begins April 10 from 4-5:30 pm in the “Garden of Eatin” gardens at UW-Extension (Fond du Lac County Campus, 400 University Drive). A designated parent/guardian is required to accompany youth participants at all sessions. There is no registration fee to attend this program. To register, please contact the UW-Madison Extension Fond du Lac County office at (920) 906-4620. The deadline to register is Friday, April 4.
