Healthcare is on the Ballot this November!
Decisions on the opioid crisis, reproductive health, prescription drug costs, and so many more issues could affect you, your family/community/world, and your future career in healthcare!
The Nashman Center for Civic Engagement & Public Service coordinates GW Votes, a nonpartisan coalition of students, faculty and staff that promotes voter registration efforts and participation among students. GW students are eligible to vote in their home state or in DC if you live on or near campus. To receive assistance registering or to vote or to receive an absentee ballot to vote by mail, please visit TurboVote. This site will guide you through the process of registering and ensure you have what you need to cast your ballot, as well as reminding you of upcoming elections!

The American Medical Physiology Club
The American Medical Physiology Club (AMPC) would like to thank everyone who made September great! From our successful GBM with over 100 people to our Suture Clinic, we have enjoyed building our GW Pre-Med Community. Not to mention the beginning of our Research Symposium, with hundreds of students vying for spots in over 40 research Labs. But don’t worry if you couldn't make it to these events, because we have more coming up:
Academic: Anki Flashcards Workshop on October 8th in USC 310 from 5:30-6:30 PM!
Community Service: Blanket Making to Donate to Homeless Volunteering and Bonding Event October 17th 6-7:30 in USC 310!
FULL BODY: OUR SECOND GBM featuring a talk from Dr. Keith Melancon, Director of Transplant Surgery at GW on October 21st, 7:00-8:30 pm in USC 310!

GW Pre-PA Panel

We are so excited to hold a special George Washington University Pre-PA Panel on Thursday, October 10th, 2024, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM EST. This event will take place during National PA Week (October 6th-12th), making it the perfect time to learn more about the path to becoming a Physician Assistant!
During the panel, we will discuss:
CASPA application requirements
GWU’s prerequisites and admissions process
What GWU has to offer as a PA school
Additionally, the panel will include a Q&A session featuring current Physician Assistant students and Master of Public Health dual degree students, where attendees can get answers to their burning questions about PA school and the healthcare field.

MPH Epidemiology Info Session
This session is intended for GW undergraduate students who may be interested in applying to MPH/MS Epidemiology programs. General information about the application process as well as more specific information about the GW MPH Epidemiology program will be presented. Epidemiology programs at the graduate can be great for pre health students taking a gap year.

AmeriCorps Service Year Opportunity
Care for infants and children up to age six who are at risk for abuse and neglect in Houston, TX. Hands of Hope AmeriCorps Members will serve these vulnerable children throughout a 12-month commitment, living in a private, gated community (at no cost) and receiving a living allowance.
Hands of Hope AmeriCorps Members will work collaboratively with other AmeriCorps Members in the home to ensure that children’s physical, emotional, and mental needs are met. While the commitment to our organization is only one year, the impact AmeriCorps Members have on the children in their care is lifelong. In turn, the children’s strength, resilience, and love will also make a lifelong impact on them.

CareYaya is a nonprofit social enterprise that connects students with valuable patient care experiences by matching them with elder patients in the community, many of whom are suffering from Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Our mission is to advance health equity for our aging population and foster intergenerational relationships.
CareYaya is backed by leading organizations including the AARP, RRF Foundation for Aging, Atrium Health, and other large healthcare systems around the country. Importantly, CareYaya charges no overhead or placement fees to families.
We’re growing rapidly and are looking for pre-health students to join as a Patient Care Assistant in the D.C. area.
