East Campus Construction Update |
To keep you informed of ongoing construction that may impact your daily routes, please note:
Baldwin Quad: Work is underway in phases, including storm drain installation, electrical wiring, lighting, granite curbs, hardscaping, irrigation, and landscaping. Some roadway sections in the Quad are closed.
Broad Street Wall: Crews are grading, constructing the wall, and adding landscaping. A pedestrian detour is in place next to the field hockey stadium. Work on the Broad Street Wall project is expected to be completed by May, with the closed segment of the trail expected to reopen in April.
Additionally, as part of ongoing campus improvements, some overgrown magnolia trees on East Campus will be removed. Learn more about this effort and future landscaping plans in Duke Today.

Bricks to Stone: Your Next Step at Duke |

First-year students, it’s time to take the next step in your Duke journey! Bricks to Stone is your official welcome to West Campus—a celebration of your transition from the bricks of East to the gothic stones of West.
Kick off the fun at the Block Party (3:30–4:30 PM) at Karsh Alumni Center with music, desserts, and your Quad graduation cords.
Process to Duke Chapel with your Quad, where President Price will officially welcome the Class of 2028 in the pinning ceremony.
Celebrate your arrival at your Quad Welcome Party (5–6 PM), where you’ll meet upperclass students, connect with alumni, and enjoy food, festivities, and exclusive Quad merch.
Upperclass students—your Quads are throwing special celebrations from 5–6 PM with great food, merch, and alumni connections. Don’t miss out!

DukeALERT Test on March 19 |
Duke will test the emergency notification system (DukeALERT) on Wednesday, March 19 at 10 a.m.
As part of the test, Duke will activate its emergency communication systems, including text messages, emails, website updates, digital signs, and the outdoor warning sirens. This test serves as a reminder for students, faculty, and staff to review tornado procedures and identify shelter locations, as tornadoes are more common in North Carolina during March, April, and May. Invitation to Meeting with the Undergraduate Young Trustee Finalists |
The meeting with the Young Trustee finalists will be held on Tuesday, March 25, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. ET in Rubenstein Library, Holsti-Anderson Family Assembly Room (Room 153).
We encourage all undergraduate students to attend the meeting (or watch the recording) and provide feedback on the Young Trustee finalists. Young Trustee is an important role and your participation in this process is very much valued and appreciated.
Those who attend the meeting on March 25 in Rubenstein Library, Room 153, will be provided with pizza following the event. In addition, there will be a raffle for prizes. Only those individuals who attended the meeting or watched the recording and submitted a feedback survey will be eligible for the raffle.
