Happy St Patrick’s Day!
I received an email last night from Fox Bros. Piggly Wiggly that I wanted to share with you. Did you know that 4-H is not just for kids growing up in the country? Yes, showing animals at the local county fair is a very important learning program of 4-H, but there's so much more — for ALL kids, from rural, urban and suburban areas alike. Throughout the month of March, Fox Bros. Charity of the Month will collect donations to support local 4-H clubs in southeast Wisconsin. 4-H Clubs of Southeast Wisconsin: Dodge County 4-H, Ozaukee County 4-H, Washington County 4-H, Waukesha County 4-H
Since its beginnings more than 100 years ago, 4-H has helped millions of youths across the U.S. develop new skills, explore diverse interests, boost leadership and critical thinking skills, all while fostering a sense of confidence and self-sufficiency. They've come a long way since their first "Tomato Club” and “Corn Growing Club” in Clark County, Ohio!
Wisconsin 4-H, under the domain of UW-Extension, boasts more than 22,000 youth members and 7,000 Extension volunteers. Clubs and camps offer a wide variety of STEM opportunities, from agricultural and animal sciences to rocketry, robotics, environmental protection, computer science, and just about anything that captures a child's attention and creativity.
Research shows that 4-H members are consistently more likely to be involved in their communities, to make healthier choices, and become more civically active. Likewise, it's not unusual for kids growing up in 4-H to continue their involvement as adult volunteers because of their passion for the positive outcomes of its members and their experiences. Learn more about 4-H (National) and Wisconsin 4-H Division of UW-Wisconsin.
Donating is easy! Next time you're shopping at your local Fox Bros. Piggly Wiggly, you can help support the valuable work performed by these non-profit organizations through any of these convenient ways:
• Round up at the registers
• Donate loose change or bills into the collection bucket
Thank you for strengthening our community!
