On July 4, 1776, America gained independence from Great Britain. This year will mark 250 years since the first July 4th celebration. Today, many people still celebrate July 4th with parades, parties, and fireworks. 

Come out and celebrate 4th of July with Chicago! 

4th on 53rd Parade - In Hyde Park, an annual parade that has spanned decades kicks off at 11am.

Navy Pier Fireworks - Navy Pier has fireworks every Wednesday or Saturday this summer including July 4th! The fireworks will start at 10pm.

This Saturday is the holiday July 4th so there will be no classes Friday, July 3rd.

Puerto Rican Chicagoans made Jibarito.

A Yugoslavian person, Jimmy Stefanovic, made the Maxwell Street Polish sausage.

German, Jewish, Polish, and the cultures of all the vendors all across Chicago came together to make the Chicago-Style hot dog.

Deep dish pizza, Tavern Style Thin Crust pizza, Barbecue, and Italian ice are some more iconic Chicago foods that have been influenced by different cultures.
