PSU study finds Oregon oysters contain drugs, other toxins
A new study led by Dr. Elise Granek, associate professor of Environmental Science and Management, found that native Olympia oysters in Coos and Netarts bays contain a cocktail of pharmaceuticals and other potentially harmful chemicals—including pain relievers, antibiotics, antihistamines, PCBs, mercury and pesticides.

Environmental Science Professor Linda George leading research with city, county on air quality in Portland
Linda George, professor of Environmental Science and Management, is leading a research study with the PSU Institute of Sustainable Solutions, Multnomah County, and the City of Portland to conduct an in-depth look at heavy metals in Portland metro neighborhoods.

Shelby Anderson, Anthropology, published "A Clay source provenance survey in Northwest Alaska: Late Holocene ceramic production in the Arctic" in the Journal of Field Archaeology.
Alex Ruzicka, Geology, named a Fellow of the international Meteoritical Society.
Martin Streck, Geology, received a $17,500 grant from the United States Geological Survey EdMap Program to undertake a mentor-guided geologic mapping project with a graduate student. 
Catherine McNeur, History, featured in the Columbia University documentary "Manhattanville: A New York Nexus Sheffield Farms, The Milk Industry, and The Public Good."
Cornel Pewewardy, Indigenous Nations Studies, presented at the Indigenous education research conference at the University of New Mexico.
Ari Douangpanya, International Studies staff, received the "Supervisor Mentorship Award" at the PSU Student Employment Awards ceremony. 
Natan Meir, Judaic Studies, was named a 2016 – 2017 New York Public Library Cullman Center Fellow.
