The Brandon Tanagers recently held their November monthly meeting where members received their record books and awards from this past year. Our club also handed out 4-H tote bags and notebooks as achievement awards to members. Please come see us at Brandon Meats on Saturdays in December as we will be collecting money for various local organizations.
It is still not too late to join 4-H. If you are interested please contact us at brandontangers@gamil.com or talk with a family who is already in 4-H. Our next meeting is Monday, December 9th at Brandon School at 6:30 pm.

Officer Training - Saturday, December 7

Participants will learn the responsibilities of their officer positions, so it is important that all officers attend. Officers will also meet other 4-H members throughout the county. This will give them a chance to exchange ideas and build new relationships. Youth do not have to be incoming club officers to attend the training. Spread the word and invite your friends!
All participants must RSVP by Monday, November 25. If we don’t have a minimum of 20 youth signed up, we will cancel the event. A pizza lunch will be served at the end of the training.

4-H Dairy Judging

Another Wisconsin 4-H team recently competed in the North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, KY, participating in the 4-H dairy judging contest. The team was made up of Cameron Ryan from Fond du Lac, Logan Harbaugh from Shawano, Summer Hammann from Barron, and Hailey Zernicke from Shawano. Congratulations to the team for achieving second place overall in the contest!
Harbaugh excelled as the top individual in the Ayrshire breed, with the team also taking first place in that breed. Zernicke ranked 10th as an individual in the Brown Swiss breed, while the team placed fifth in that category.
In the Guernsey breed, Harbaugh secured first place as an individual, and Zernicke came in second. The team finished in first place for this breed. Harbaugh also achieved a fourth-place individual ranking in Jerseys, where the team took third place.
Ryan was the top individual for oral reasons, and Harbaugh followed closely in second place. As a team, they placed second in oral reasons. In terms of overall scores, Harbaugh ranked second and Zernicke ranked eighth.
A big thank you goes to their coaches, Lynn Harbaugh and Jay Jauquet, for their countless hours of dedication and coaching!

Family Learning Day Proposals 2025

Family Learning Day cannot happen without youth and adults volunteering to lead sessions! We are seeking Family Learning Day presenters. You can submit the form electronically here https://go.wisc.edu/2025familylearningdaypresenter or we can mail you a form to complete. Questions: Contact Extension Fond du Lac County at 920-906-4625.
Family Learning Day is an opportunity for 4-H members (grades 5K-13) to learn a new skill or work on a project. We are working on building out some more sessions to be offered during Family Learning Day on Saturday, Feb 22. Youth and adults can lead sessions. Please help make this day a success by volunteering to teach a session or two. If you need help with your session, invite another person to co-teach with you. The program is held at Fond du Lac County Campus (FCC) formerly the UW-Oshkosh Fond du Lac Campus. Sessions 1 and 5 are 60 minutes, Sessions 3 and 4 are 45 minutes, and Session 2 is 90 minutes. Indicate the length and time of day that fits your needs. You may repeat your session if you wish. Registration for this event goes out at the end of December/beginning of January.
Examples of previous sessions vary from woodworking, arts & crafts, basketball basic drills, photography basics, simple recipes, mindfulness, Livestock Skillathon, and so much more! Please share your talents or skills with youth who might have the same interests!
