REMOTE LEARNING EDITION

Thank You!

Thank you all for making our virtual Spirit Week and Magic Dragon Day so much fun! It was great seeing our families' Dragon spirit on display on social media.

We're so appreciative of our parent volunteers who worked hard to make it all possible. From recording videos to thinking about creative ways to bring traditions to our community virtually, you really went above and beyond!

Transition to Middle School

Rising Sixth Grade Parents: Please join us this Monday, May 4, at 10 a.m. (via Google Meet) for a "Transition to Middle School" meeting with Jessica Stargell, Middle School Director.  Mrs. Stargell will also meet separately with your children on Monday, May 11, at 11:30 a.m.  Mrs. Campbell and Mrs. Slate will share more information about this meeting with the students.

A Google Calendar invitation for the parent meeting will be sent to you shortly.  Please contact Alison Roussy if you do not receive the invitation.  To access the Google Meet, you may also use the following code: meet.google.com/nya-tjpg-mjn. We are excited to connect with you and your rising sixth grader.

Eighth Grade Photos Needed ASAP

Help us showcase the Class of 2020 by sharing where your graduate is heading to high school. Please take a close up photo of your child (cell phone ok) either wearing a t-shirt or holding a logo/sign representing the chosen high school. If possible, take the photo outside (preferred) or in a well-lit area. Once completed, email your child’s photo to Andrea Amore in the Communications Office, aamore@stmschool.net. Please submit photos by this Friday, May 8.
Class Video: As part of the festivities, Sandy Brooks is creating a year-end slideshow for our graduates. At the beginning of the year, many of you submitted candid pictures to include in the yearbook and slideshow. While the deadline was Friday, to ensure all of our students are captured throughout their elementary and middle school years, you are invited to submit additional pictures (up to 8) via Shutterfly ASAP. Should you have any issues, please contact Sandy Brooks at ojardnas@mac.com or 804-399-7745.  Please use the following link to submit pictures: https://stm8thgrade20192020.shutterfly.com/200.

May P.E. Fitness Challenges

Lower School: Students are invited to continue their virtual walk to Kings Dominion through the end of May.  The map and rules are on our P.E. classroom page (code: lv3wdsz);  When you reach one of the key destinations, please email Mr. Kern or Mrs. Martin and we will put your name on the Trophy Board!

For May, students are also being challenged to complete 3 bingo-like fitness boards, comprised of strength, cardiovascular, and flexibility challenges.  Once completed, students can alert Mr. Kern or Mrs. Martin and your name will be announced on the Board of Champions!  Also listed on our classroom page are daily exercise challenges as well as fun videos of stations and other exercises.

Middle School: The Middle School students are still being encouraged to virtually walk their way to Busch Gardens.  Points will be given along the way towards their advisory group with the winner being announced June 1st.  The map and rules can be found on our Middle School classroom page (code: s7xzgnf).
