Dear Traveler:

It’s still a few weeks from the official start date of autumn up in the forests, but if you look closely you may see the telltale signs of the changing season in the higher altitudes. The trees have yet to debut their spectacular fall foliage (you can expect that show to start sometime around early October), but there’s a whiff of excitement in the air at the promise of what’s to come.

It’s no secret that September is one of the most beautiful months to visit Transylvania County. With warm, sunny, late summer days cooling into mild, early-fall nights, the conditions are prime for all kinds of exploring, whether you prefer to do it on a trail, on a river, on a sidewalk, at the chef’s table, at a brewery or at the theater. Get started on your next great September Adventure.
