Eighth Grade Update
Dear Eighth Grade Families,
In the midst of our second week of our remote learning program, I want to convey tremendous gratitude from all of us at St M. In the face of an unprecedented set of circumstances since early March, we extend our sincere thanks to you and your children for your unwavering commitment to our program and the School.
The new realities of remote learning, social distancing, and Governor Northam’s order to “stay home” continue to challenge us all. For sure, our program for March through June is different than that of February and before, but we are steadfast in our commitment to provide a learning experience that delivers upon our mission of superior academic instruction.
Top of mind for many of our eighth grade families are questions surrounding opportunities to participate in the customs and traditions that are a part of St. Michael’s typical end-of-the year graduation experience. I would like to take a moment to address these questions.
Per the Governor’s Executive Order, the original date for graduation cannot be accommodated and as such, the administrative team and I are working collaboratively to determine how and when we can recognize and celebrate your children's accomplishments and St M years. As it is undetermined when these Executive Orders will be lifted, we acknowledge this celebration may look different than it has been in the past and ask for your patience, flexibility, and support as we determine what is appropriate within the COVID-19 guidelines. As more time passes and the future hopefully becomes a bit clearer, we will be back in touch with further information on our plans. Our wonderful community has showcased its resilience and kindness these past few weeks in the face of challenges and change. Thank you for standing with us.
The faculty and staff join me in sending all safe and healthy wishes.
Warmly,
Bob Gregg
Head of School
