22 Push-ups for Veteran Suicide Prevention |
Join us on Friday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the West Lawn for 22 Push-Ups for Veteran Suicide Awareness. Everyone is invited to meet active-duty service members, enjoy lunch, win prizes, and join in 22 push-ups every half hour to raise awareness for veterans’ suicide prevention.
Leading the push-ups will be U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and Walsh University alum Joshua Ruiz ’21, our Veteran Affairs Coordinator. Modified push-ups are welcome, and all are encouraged to participate. According to Veterans Affairs (VA) researchers, an estimated 22 veterans take their own lives every day—a staggering number that may be even higher. Let’s come together as a campus community to help raise awareness and support our veterans.

Stand for Freedom. Be the Change. |
Let’s pack the arena! For the past two years, nearly 1,000 people have gathered at Walsh University’s Aux Gym to stand against human trafficking. This year, we are moving to the Cecchini Center Arena—let’s make it our biggest yet! Join us for the 7th Annual Community Freedom Summit on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Together, we can raise awareness, reduce the demand, and take action to end human trafficking.
This year’s keynote speaker is Tony Talbott, a nationally recognized leader in anti-trafficking and human rights advocacy. With more than 15 years of experience in advocacy, military service, and education, Tony will deliver a powerful talk: Reducing the Demand: How to Help Disrupt Human Trafficking.
The morning will also feature:
|
- A moving Red Sand Project demonstration (The Red Sand Project is a global interactive art initiative that uses red sand poured into sidewalk cracks to symbolize and raise awareness for those who have “fallen through the cracks” of society due to human trafficking.)
- Freedom Educators holding signs, raising awareness along East Maple Street
-
A community resource marketplace in the Cecchini Arena
- A one-mile silent Freedom Walk through campus
