¡FELIZ DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS!

In the Middle School this past week, the all-school, student-led Day of the Dead fiesta turned the Great Hall and the art room into a corner of Mexico for an afternoon. Eighth graders researched and cooked authentic Mexican dishes for everyone, learning as they did about the origins of many popular foods. Seventh graders prepared beautiful ofrendas(offerings) and made oral and written presentations in Spanish and English to celebrate and commemorate the lives of family members who have passed away.

As St M is proud to be a designated International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle School, this festive project-based learning opportunity fits the IB learner profile. IB learners are reflective, and reflecting on how different cultures remember and honor the dead encourages our students to see what is unique and what is universal about our own culture.

Be sure to check out our St M FACEBOOK and TWITTER pages for this week's posts on the Middle School's Day of the Dead Celebration and St. Michael's culture, curriculum and community.

Thank you for voting St. Michael's a Style Weekly Family Favorite for "Favorite Private School" and "Favorite School Festival!" It is an exciting time to be at St. Michael's!
Honoring Our Veterans
As this Wednesday, November 11, is Veteran's Day, St. Michael's would like to recognize and show our appreciation for all those who answered the call to serve. Students and faculty are invited to add the name, branch and relationship between the person writing and the veteran to our Wall of Honor at each campus.

The willingness of America's veterans to sacrifice for our country has earned them our lasting gratitude.
