Masks continue to be an important health and safety tool on campus and must be worn properly to be effective. Anytime you are indoors, please make sure you are wearing your mask and that it is covering your mouth and your nose. The only time you may remove your mask indoors is if you are physically distanced and eating/drinking while seated or while physically distanced and working at workstations or in personal residence hall rooms. Please note that no food or drink is allowed in any classroom, lab, or performance space during instruction, and workstations do not include stations in computer labs or desks/furniture in shared recreational, study, or instructional spaces, including the library.
If someone gives you a reminder about wearing your mask properly, please know that they are only trying to ensure we all stay healthy by following the college's COVID rules. We know that mask fatigue is real and acknowledge that masks are not fun to wear, but they are a small price to pay to be together.
Do you need a break from wearing your mask? Take a mask break outside. If you are fully vaccinated, you don't need a mask anywhere outdoors. If you are not fully vaccinated, you don't need to wear a mask outdoors as long as you can physically distance from others. This is a perfect time of year to spend time outside enjoying the fall weather and changing foliage.
Do you need a mask? Reusable fabric masks are available for free at the HUb@HuntUnion or Milne Library service desks.
The small number of active COVID cases among our community shows that everyone's commitment to following safety guidelines is paying off. Indoor masking, paired with our high rate of vaccination and weekly testing, are key factors to keeping our positivity rate low.
