The Electoral Process
We are fortunate to live in a country where we have the freedom to vote and select our leaders. Democracy is above all a process of citizen participation.
Our Middle Schoolers spent Election Day in a special in-school field trip focused on the electoral process. From studying how the Electoral College works and the math of elections and polling to the role of media in campaigns and learning about the candidates' positions on key issues, it was a day devoted to important civics lessons.
Check out our Media Gallery page for photos from around the halls this week at St M.

Middle School Sports Fall Season Recaps
Cross Country:
  • The boys and girls of the St M cross-country team raced through another fantastic season that resulted in great success for both teams.  The girls’ team was able to sustain that momentum and have another undefeated season, while the boys’ team maintained their strong performance throughout the whole season.  The highlight of the season was at the Collegiate JV Invitational, where our runners raced against middle schoolers as well as 9th and 10th grade runners.  The girls’ team won this race for the 3rd time out of the past 4 seasons and the boys’ team finished with a solid 2nd place out of 14 teams!  The team was coached by Neal Fleanor.
Soccer:
  • After many years without a school soccer team, the Dragons came roaring back with an impressive 4-3 winning season. Although we were young both organizationally and in age compared to the competition, our players showed great maturity in their commitment to improving, individually and as a team. With rising talent and continued development, the future for St. Micheal's soccer is very bright. We invite all passionate, hard working players to join us for tryouts next season.  We ended the season with wins against: New Community, St. Bridget's, Steward & St. Edward's. The team was coached by John Mills and assistants Jason Flora, Eric Sheppard, and Beth Kimball.
Girls' Field Hockey:
  • The field hockey team had a successful season impressing all with their improvement in both stick skills and level of game play.  The 8th grade captains led their team to a final record of 2-8 with highlights including a close game with St. Catherine's and double wins against Collegiate. The team was coached by Katherine Martin.
Boy's Lacrosse Clinics:
  • The Fall lacrosse clinics were held every Wednesday evening this fall and were especially well attended by 4th-6th graders. Based on the strong attendance at the clinics and the marked improvement seen in the boys' lacrosse skills over the last few weeks, St Michael’s will have a thriving boys lacrosse team this spring and for the next several years.  Tyler Muerlin, Ward Good and Pete Waldbauer coached the clinics.
Baseball Clinics:
  • Fall baseball clinics were held on Friday afternoons with a dedicated group of players. After honing skills, an end of season competitive game was played against Ironbridge baseball with Ironbridge securing the win 8-7. The clinics were coached by Michael Turner. Special thanks to Tony Lucas for facilitating with games and practice.
Thank you to all of our players and coaches for a great fall season! Dragon Pride!
