RSVP now!  RSVP Midwest Regional SACNAS Conference The University of Chicago's Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) chapter will be hosting a Midwest Regional Conference. The theme is Identity and Inclusion in STEM: Empowering Across Boundaries. The intent is to help students understand that STEM fields are not out of reach for disadvantaged groups by celebrating the diversity of scientists across various STEM fields. This is a great event for not only students but also professionals as well. There will be a platform for presentation of cutting edge research, as well as networking and professional development opportunities. The UIC SACNAS chapter will be coordinating transportation arrangements for those interested. The event will take place at the University of Chicago Saturday April 6th, 2019 from 8:00am - 9:00pm. Mentoring Con Ganas offers upper class students an opportunity to help incoming first year and transfer students. Mentors can offer insight into classes, professors, campus events and provide a support system for new incoming students. This is a great leadership opportunity for Pre-Health students.  If you are a STEM student with a minimum of 2.5 GPA, identify as Latinx, will be a UIC student for the entire 2019-2020 academic year, and the 2019-2010 academic year is at least your second year at UIC, then you can apply!  MORE INFO & APPLY Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering (CASE) Workshop The American Mathematical Society (AMS) sponsors two students to participate in the CASE workshop, organized by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Selected students will participate in a three-and-a-half day workshop in Washington, DC learning about the structure and organization of Congress, the federal budget and appropriations processes, and tools for effective science communication and civic engagement. The AMS will cover all workshop and travel costs.
