Pre-Health Advising Announcements

Hello future health professionals!
We’re very fortunate in our office to work with such awesome pre-health students. You all consistently impress us with your dedication to service, empathy, and compassion. At the same time, we recognize that many of you are navigating real challenges in the current landscape, including uncertainty about the future and competing demands and pressures.
In difficult moments, connecting with like-minded people through service can be grounding and empowering. Community engagement not only aligns with the values of the health professions (and is viewed favorably in admissions), but it can also help you find purpose and belonging. Resources like the GW Honey Nashman Center and its GivePulse platform can help you identify local opportunities, while Idealist.org offers national and advocacy-focused options.
Remember that caring for yourself is not separate from caring for others. Sustaining your own well-being ultimately makes you more effective in service and in your future profession. GW offers a wide range of resources to support mental health, academic success, and more. We encourage you to explore wellbeing resources.
Stay warm out there!

Medical Assistant Position
As the semester’s end is soon approaching, we have begun recruiting for our new Medical Assistant class. Our clinic is located in northwest Washington, D.C., just off of American University’s campus.
We are a growing, upscale dermatology practice. The duties of a Medical Assistant include recording patients’ medical history, assisting the physician during examinations and minor surgical procedures, removing sutures and changing dressings and practicing OSHA safety standards. Medical Assistants have the benefit of obtaining plenty of personal patient interactions and building strong communication and teamwork skills with physicians and other medical assistants. All of this can help bolster our application for medical/PA school.
We are looking for our new class to be hired by May/June as our current MAs will be cycling out to attend medical school! Please send our resume, along with a cover letter to gtderm@gmail.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Please be sure to include “Campus Recruiting” in the subject line.
