A message from Marlene…
Dear friends,
Happy Spring! My husband, Eric, and I remind ourselves that spring showers bring so many blessings. Yes, we try to be grateful for cloudy days as well as sunny ones!
I am so grateful for your ongoing support of the mission of Catholic Family Center, as we strive to support families going through their own personal storms.
Many of you attended our recent re-opening celebration for Sanctuary House, a shelter for women and their children in Rochester. Guests visited bedrooms, made ready with teddy bears to welcome young girls and boys with a spirit of comfort and refuge, warmth and dryness. In this issue, we share with you
our perspective on recent changes to homeless services in New York State, and share some new facts and trends that impact our ability to effectively welcome and care for such families.
We also share stories of positive impact from our
refugee program and our
family prosperity program, as well as an update on our new
YouthBuild program, which provides education, training and leadership opportunities to at-risk youth. The issues facing our most vulnerable neighbors are complex; however, I fervently believe that it is possible to bring hope, to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, and to help our neighbors achieve their full human potential. May our stories inspire you to feel the same!
In gratitude for your continued support and prayers,
Marlene
