A message from Marlene…
Dear friends,

Happy Spring! My husband, Eric, and I remind ourselves that spring showers bring so many blessings. Yes, we try to be grateful for cloudy days as well as sunny ones!

I am so grateful for your ongoing support of the mission of Catholic Family Center, as we strive to support families going through their own personal storms.

Many of you attended our recent re-opening celebration for Sanctuary House, a shelter for women and their children in Rochester. Guests visited bedrooms, made ready with teddy bears to welcome young girls and boys with a spirit of comfort and refuge, warmth and dryness. In this issue, we share with you our perspective on recent changes to homeless services in New York State, and share some new facts and trends that impact our ability to effectively welcome and care for such families.

We also share stories of positive impact from our refugee program and our family prosperity program, as well as an update on our new YouthBuild program, which provides education, training and leadership opportunities to at-risk youth. The issues facing our most vulnerable neighbors are complex; however, I fervently believe that it is possible to bring hope, to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, and to help our neighbors achieve their full human potential. May our stories inspire you to feel the same!

In gratitude for your continued support and prayers,

Marlene

CFC in the News
In this article, we share our perspective on the recent changes to homeless services in New York State that are making it more difficult for CFC to receive sufficient funding and reimbursement to provide shelter and refuge to children and families, and for the amount of time that may be required to find them safe and stable housing.

Welcoming Our Sustaining Saints

We recently launched a special leadership giving program to honor the work of CFC in the Rochester community and to ensure that our services continue for the next 100 years.  We are proud to introduce the Sustaining Saints program. Sustaining Saints is a special way to show your commitment to the life-saving programs of CFC while becoming more intimately involved in our work through regular engagement activities.  We are thrilled to report that since it’s kick off in January, supporters have pledged more than $100,000 to join this group of dedicated founding members of Sustaining Saints. We hope that you will consider joining as well.  All members who make a pledge in 2018 will be considered founding members of Sustaining Saints.

Thank you to our founding members!
Did You Know?

CFC now has a blog!

We recently launched a new website that we believe more clearly communicates who we are and what we do, and is easy for our supporters and neighbors to find us, learn about us, engage with us. As part of this redesign, we will be sharing blog stories to give an inside perspective on how our services are delivered, and their impact. Recent stories include:
