“Over the years, I have met such wonderful people, and many of us have become good friends," says Barbara. "We go out to Fratelli’s for coffee or out for lunch quite frequently. If one of us is missing for a class, someone always calls to check up and make sure we are okay or if we need anything.”
Barbara is an avid swimmer and a fan of our Active Older Adult water aerobics classes, where she connects with friends and enjoys a great workout. “The water instructors are great and give us a good workout. I have always loved the pool and am so happy to have it in our community.”
At the South Shore Y, our active seniors play an important part in our community. Our Active Older Adult classes engage seniors in low-impact exercise to manage weight, control disease, improve strength, mobility, and stability. Not only do these classes help our seniors stay active, but they also provide a strong sense of community. Our senior members form bonds, make friends, and stay engaged in the community. They are so special to our Y family.
“The Y is a place where we have a safe, fun place to socialize,” Barbara says. “I’m so thankful for this community and look forward to many more years enjoying the YMCA.”
