8-9th Grade Our Whole Lives This Fall

Enrollment deadline July 31

We are excited to offer OWLs in the fall and need to get a gauge of how many students in 8th-9th grades and above are planning to attend.
This year poses a unique situation, as Covid has pushed eligible students back by a year, meaning last year’s 8th-grade students are now rising 9th graders. These students are of course eligible to take the class, but since we also offer Being a Teen (BATs) beginning with 9th graders, families may have to make a decision about which program to register their children for. Since BATs is a four-year program, I recommend that young people take the OWLs course first.
Classes will meet from 6:30-8:30 PM on the first and third Wednesday of each month from mid-September-May. Our enrollment deadline is July 31 or when we reach our enrollment limit of 20 students, whichever is first. For more information about the course, visit https://www.uua.org/re/owl.
Please contact Kim Hartman, director of religious education, if you are interested in enrolling your child or have questions. Please note, this will not serve as enrollment itself, but it will allow us to gather information about how many students we need to prepare for.

Summer Religious Education

As UU’s we never stop learning and growing, not even in the summer! Come join us for fun, community, and exploring new ideas each week. While we await reopening, our Zoom schedule is:

•  Prek-1st grade Chalice Children: 9:00-10:00 AM CT on the first and third Sunday of each month
•  2nd-6th grade Chalice Children: 9:00-10:00 AM CT on the second and fourth Sunday of each month
•  PreK-6th grade Chalice Children: 9:00 AM CT on August 29
•  Youth RE 7th -12th grade: 11:00-12:00 PM CT every Sunday

Registrations from this past program year will continue through the summer. Please contact Kim Hartman, director of religious education, at kim@fvuuf.org for more information.

We invite you for an evening of “Rediscovering Home” from 4:00-6:00 pm CT on Sunday, July 25. This will be a chance to visit the building, put a stone in the chalice, sit in “your” chair, or tour the building if you’ve never visited. Staff and lay leaders will be there to welcome you and share information about our coming year.

Summer Groups and Activities

Small Groups: Many of our small groups are continuing to meet over the summer. Check out the small groups page on our website HERE to learn more and connect. We will continue to update this page as the groups decide if and when they will start meeting in person again.
Adult Faith Development: We take a break from much of our adult classes in the summer. We are planning to re-start our in-person Wellspring program in September, and people will be able to participate virtually as well. Our other adult classes will also start this fall!
