Call for Survey Participation Closing |
Only a few days left to participate in the first phase of the Delphi survey on the value-added benefits of data repositories that was launched by the World Data System (WDS) and its Scientific Committee in mid-February! This study aims to demonstrate the importance of repositories in the scientific community by highlighting their role in research data management and the need for recurring investment to maintain and enhance these services.
We are actively seeking participants from five stakeholder categories: funders, researchers, digital infrastructure providers, policy-makers, and journal publishers. If you belong to one of these groups, please click on this link to complete the first survey round, which will take approximately 30-60 minutes.
The deadline for this first phase of the survey will end on 24 March 2025.

There are only 4 weeks left to submit abstracts for sessions, presentations, or posters. To submit an abstract, you should sign up and create an account in the SciDataCon conference system.

Final Call: Enter the Koala Competition for a Chance to Win Free IDW2025 Registration

We can’t wait to welcome you to Brisbane, but before you visit, we want to see the IDW 2025 koala in your home country! Take a picture of yourself with a koala in front of a famous landmark or even just your favorite spot in your hometown or home country.
You will go into the drawing to win one of two complimentary full registrations to IDW 2025. One of the winners will be chosen by the IDW 2025 Organizing Committee and the other will be a People’s Choice Award, both will be awarded in early 2025. The shortlisted entries will be featured in a future ezine where delegates will be able to vote for our People’s Choice Winner.

FAIR Implementation Workshop: OAIS version 3 - What does it mean for repositories? |
The FAIR Implementation Workshop continues with “OAIS version 3 – What does it mean for repositories?”. The Open Archival Information System (OAIS) is essential to organize long term preservation at digital repositories.
This workshop is open to all but intended for those working in data repositories and data service providers. Basic knowledge on OAIS is desired, for example see the introduction to OAIS or the overview of the recent update. Registration for the workshop is free but mandatory.

Workshop to cocreate an ECR Research Integrity toolkit |
Sense about Science is collaborating with Taylor & Francis to produce a Research Integrity (RI) toolkit aimed at equipping ECRs with explainers and guidance on key RI issues so that you can both embed RI into research design and speak confidently about these issues in the public conversation about science and research.

The Fair Digital Objects Forum (FDOF) will be hosting a workshop for researchers in the field of solid earth science to consider future perspectives of data infrastructure development. Two European Plate Observing System (EPOS) experts will discuss the many practical challenges that need to be overcome when integrating data from so many data providers and sub communities to offer an integrated dataspace in the domain of solid earth science and some services for researchers. Their presentation will give insight about the challenges experienced research infrastructure builders are faced with.

Final Call for Feedback: SDG Classifier Demonstrator |
The SDG Classifier Demonstrator is a tool designed to support publishers in aligning with the goals of the SDG Publishers Compact, which encourages categorizing published content to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The SDG Classifier uses a pre-configured algorithm to evaluate content against specific SDG targets, then returns the number and name of all SDGs that the text matches. Stakeholders and publishers are invited to test the tool with sample data and offer feedback.

Text+ is part of the German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) with the goal of establishing a distributed research data infrastructure for humanities research data. | Launch and Call for Papers of New Oral Archives Journal (OAr) |
The first issue of the new open access, peer-reviewed Oral Archives Journal (OAr), published by Firenze University Press and USiena Press, has been released. The journal is dedicated to all the aspects of oral archives –from their creation to their dissemination and reuse– and aims to foster collaboration and exchange among scholars, researchers, and cultural institutions dealing with oral sources. The journal's collaboration with the CLARIN-IT consortium further strengthens its potential to contribute to the advancement of research and the preservation of oral heritage. The call for papers for the second issue is currently open.

Findable Accessible Interoperable Reusable Open Science (FAIROS) Program |
The FAIROS Program is accepting proposals for funding. It supports a broad range of transformative open science activities including but not limited to:
|

Research, education, and socio-technical cyberinfrastructure development capacities that advance sustainable multi-disciplinary findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable (FAIR) research data management (RDM) and open science capabilities
- Piloting new models of scientific communication and publication that improve efficiency and accessibility
- Developing FAIROS data portals, research data commons, RDM as a national service
- Lowering barriers to accessing, curating, integrating, linking, managing, sharing, and storing data across many disciplinary domains, irrespective of data size.

FAIROS proposals must select one of two tracks to focus on, either: 1) Disciplinary Improvements to targeted scientific communities, or 2) Cross-Cutting Improvements that apply to many or most scientific disciplines.
The FAIROS Program is undertaken in support of the US National Science Foundation (NSF) Public Access Initiative.
Proposal submissions are due 9 April 2025.

| New Humanities and cultural Heritage Open Science Cloud Training Environment |
Create a free account, access the platform, and browse available courses!
The Humanities and cultural Heritage Italian Open Science Cloud (H2IOSC) Training Environment platform was developed to address the growing need for a structured and accessible system to manage and deliver educational content, particularly for modular and reusable digital learning resources. Students can enroll independently in open-access and restricted-access courses, the latter requiring a code provided by the instructor. Courses will be offered in Italian and English.
