Nocturnal: Emergent Behaviour
Thursday May 16 | 7:00 - 8:30pm

Join us for a truly unique evening of new music as we journey into spring!

Vancouver's Tempest Flute Ensemble will present Emergent Behaviour: a series of compositions that respond to the museum's permanent collections and our Skin & Bones exhibition.

This one hour concert features newly created works of music by Canadian composers Anna Höstman and Emilie LeBel, as well as recent pieces by James O'Callaghan and Jordan Nobles.

Famed Montreal conductor Véronique Lacroix leads the ensemble through a musical program that is every bit as beautiful, strange, and complex as the natural world that inspires it.
Let us know on Facebook if you'll be joining us!

A cash bar and light appetizers will be available.

The museum will be open from 5pm - 8:30pm and admission is by donation.
Can biodiversity adapt to climate change?
Sunday, May 5 | 1:00 - 2:00pm

Organisms around the world are already responding to our warming climate.
Some birds lay their eggs earlier when the weather is hotter, plant populations have developed increased drought resistance, and many species have extended their range towards cooler regions to track the climate they are used to.

So should we be more optimistic about biodiversity's ability to adapt to climate change? Unfortunately, the answer to that question is not simple.

Join researcher Ophélie Ronce - currently an invited scholar at the Peter Wall Institute for Advanced Studies - for an illuminating talk in which she will explore this complex issue, and the uncertain future of biodiversity on Earth.
